It was in 1983, when Europ Assistance appointed us as a local partner in Korea to provide assis-tance services for those insured from Europ Assistance. It is the beginning of assistance services history in South Korea. Since then, we have provided assistance services mainly medical cases. For more than two decades, the number of assistance cases were minimal and no dedicated staff was assigned, and all cases were assigned as a part-time job. In 1999 Europ Assistance had se-cured the contract at the international bid. In doing so, we are able to provide international me-dical evacuation services for those thousands of workers as well as international diplomats assign-ed in North Korea. These workers constructed two light water nuclear reactor until the project was ceased in 2005. During this period, we experienced and performed medical evacuations and repatriation services with medical teams by air ambulance and speed boats from North Korea to South Korea.

In 2009, South Korea’s government reformed the medical act to strategically showcase the highly-advanced medical facilities and skilled professional for the global health care industry. The goal was to host and promote the competent medical tourism services in South Korea. Global Assistance Partners saw this change as a great opportunity and established a private independent company which was the first assistance company in Korea. Through out the years, Global Assis-tance Partners put in the effort in establishing 24/7 call center with trilingual staff capable of speaking English, Japanese and Korean. The center also includes an operational software solu-tion, and a direct billing agreement for over 200 selected medical facilities. The facilities are well established with advanced medical equipment and experience caring for international patients. These facilities are spread out through out the country so that our clients are able to access with-in an hour driving distance wherever the client is located in South Korea.
